June Newsletter
We wanted to check in with everyone ahead of the return to school. We hope you are looking forward to it as much as we are! Please do not forget to update your availability using our online portal. Over the coming weeks, we will do our utmost to keep you informed about what is happening in schools across South Wales. As always, we will be on hand to support you and if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
As you already know, your safety is our number one priority which is why we have made PPE available to all MPS Education Teachers and Support Staff. If you still require some, please do let us know as soon as possible. We are also offering all MPS Education workers access to an online COVID-19 Awareness course. A link to this has been emailed to you and we would advise you to complete it before your return to work.
So, what else have we been up to here at MPS Education?
NQT Support
Whilst we have been following Government guidance by working remotely, we have continued to provide support for our current cohort of NQTs, with the help of our amazing mentors, Mac and Dyfed! We prepared two workbooks on Reflective Practice and Leadership to ensure our NQTs could continue to upload to their PLPs. We are currently working on our next workbook, so watch this space!
Mac and Dyfed have also been checking in with our NQTs via Zoom! We wanted to keep everyone updated with the latest from the EWC, as well as sharing our latest pointers on how to maintain progress whilst we remain at home. It was great to catch up with everyone and we hope you found it beneficial.
We are currently recruiting for our next cohort of NQTs so if you know of somebody who is looking for regular work and on-going NQT support, point them in our direction!
Digital Training Opportunities
Over the course of the lockdown, we have also continued to provide all MPS Teachers and Support Staff access to digital training sessions in order for you to maintain progress with your CPD. Working in partnership with the Lucy Faithful Foundation, we delivered a three hour ‘Professionals Protect’ session which raised awareness and informed participants on safeguarding issues, as well as our responsibility to protect children.
The sessions were a huge success with lots of you taking part and we received some great feedback:
I found the session to be laid back but informative and the amount of resources that are available I found interesting. I enjoyed seeing others from similar Employment backgrounds and it kept me in the loop of my role as a TA. Friendly, professional faces with lots of ideas and thoughts.
I found it useful that this course went into more detail about the subject than on a typical safeguarding course. This would allow me to be more aware of signs that a child may be at risk. I enjoyed the fact that it was a small group and we were given the opportunity for discussion among ourselves.
We are currently working on our digital training schedule which we will be running over the summer, so make sure you keep an eye on our social media channels for more information on that! You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Do not forget to like, share, and comment too, we love hearing from you, and we want to build our online community of Teachers and Support Staff!
We hope that you have found this newsletter useful. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for what else you would like to hear from us, we really appreciate your feedback!
We are looking forward to working with you all again very soon,
MPS Education
